XXVII International Meeting “Bile Acids in Health and Disease – 2024”

09.07.2024

On July 05-06, the XXVII International Meeting on Bile Acids was held in Edinburgh (Scotland): “Bile Acids in Health and Disease – 2024”, which was organized by the Scientific Division.

Since the last international meeting on bile acids in Amsterdam in 2022, the field of bile acid research has continued to evolve.

New insights have been gained into the signaling of bile acids to the liver and intestine, the role of bile acids and their receptors in the liver-gut axis, the interaction of bile acids and the microbiome, and the development of HCC (hepatocellular carcinoma).

The XXVII International Meeting on Bile Acids was dedicated to both basic and clinical aspects of bile acids, with an emphasis on the role of bile acid transport and signaling in health and disease, the interaction of bile acids with the microbiome, and the role of bile acids in tumor development.

New aspects of the therapy strategy using bile acid derivatives, bile acid receptor agonists or bile acid transporter inhibitors represented another section of this conference. The latest discoveries were presented by leading scientists and clinicians in these areas. The symposium also featured a strong poster session. Following the tradition of the International Bile Acids Meetings, some of the best poster presentations were selected by the scientific committee and the authors were given the opportunity to present their research results orally.
